First, you’ll need to download the app. It’s very snazzy and easy to use. Once you’re signed up, there’s guides to help you get started. We’re nice like that. 

All about auctions

To get involved with an auction, just click ‘find an auction’, then enter the details of your train journey – either the date, time and location of your trip, or just add your booking reference.

Once you’ve found your journey, you’ll be taken to the auction page. This is where you can place your bid for a sweet First Class upgrade. Or if you simply can’t wait (we get it), you can buy your upgrade straight away. It’s usually cheaper than buying direct or on the day, so you’ll still nab a bargain. 

You can start bidding before the auction goes live. To get started, just choose the number of upgrades and set a pre-bid amount. When the auction starts, we’ll bid for you in increments up to your maximum. Keep an eye out, because you could still be outbid. 

Auctions open 24 hours before your train departs, so keep your app open and your thumb ready. The auction closes 30 minutes before your train leaves its original station. 

Bonus tip – if you bid high enough initially, you might get an Instant Win. This means you’ve scored an immediate upgrade, with no more bidding needed. Nice.

Secret Fare

Headed somewhere on a trip but got some flexibility on your timings? Enter Secret fare. It’s a way to save up to 50% on train tickets to destinations all over the UK. 

First, select your journey. Then, choose your travel window. You can select morning, afternoon or evening, and you’ll see the bargain prices available. Confirm your dates and time window, double check the details… And just like that, you’re all booked. Your ticket with your confirmed train time will arrive in your inbox 24 hours before you travel.

Train Swap

Concert had too many encores? Ducking early out of a bad date? Life gets in the way sometimes. Luckily, with Train Swap, you don’t need to fork over a fortune to change your booked train.

Just head to the app, select Train Swap and search for your booked train. If it’s eligible for a swap, we’ll let you know, and show you a list of the services you can move to – starting from only £1.50. Choose a new service, book and pay, and we’ll email you with a new barcode and seat reservation. So easy. Love that.
